Our Minack 2019 production of Sister Act will coincide with the 10th Anniversary, almost to the day, from the Original London Production which followed some US regional try-outs in 2006 and preceded the Original Broadway Production in 2011.
Whilst the story for Sister Act is based on the popular 1992 film, this hit musical includes none of the original music and in its place has, at its heart, a truly magnificent score by the Tony and Oscar award-winning Alan Menken.
The songs and the story are easily accessible and will appeal to the family audience expected during half-term, but not only that we believe Sister Act is a show that will appeal to BROS and that people will want to be a part of.
Sian and I want for this production, a big, strong company who can sing and move well. It is truly an ensemble show with 9 female and 6 male principal roles and of course the crucial superfluity of nuns for which we need strong characters playing from 16 to 70 years old … but why stop there!
Sian and I work at our best when there is a fun and happy environment around us and we will work as hard as we can to generate and maintain this within the company. Our aim for the company is that you’ll leave every rehearsal feeling genuinely uplifted – although we’re not quite offering a money-back guarantee!
Our aim for Minack is that our production will “smack ‘em in the face” with its energy and joyfulness and leave everyone tapping toes, smiling and humming the tunes.
We can’t wait for the Minack cliffs to be alive with the sound of Sister Act.
Come along and find out about our vision and plans for Sister Act at the Minack in 2019 at our launch night on Thursday November 8th at St Michaels Church Hall, Elm Bank Gardens, Barnes SW13 0NX at 8pm. Click here to find out more about getting to the launch night!
